Languages are hard to master, but not impossible. As with any subject, the beginning is the hardest, as we want to be masters immediately. But the fact of the matter is that we have spent years learning English, and we're still not masters (hence why we take a classes on English in school).
As with any other subject, studying is important. The difference from other subjects is that you NEED the daily exposure. When you first learned English, you used it every day and made a ton of mistakes. Think of Spanish the same way: use it every day and be okay with making mistakes. The big thing is to learn from them. |
How to do StudyCOMPLETE IMMERSION every night is necessary for learning any language. This means being in a mode where you have no other language going on but Spanish. When learning a language, most people zone out between 1-5 minutes into the study (depending on attention span). The important thing is to KEEP GOING. The long term memory stores more than you think during this time when you zone out.
Required: 15 mins. Recommended: 30 mins. NOTE: Do this for 5 days a week. Be sure to have a day to rest your brain as you learn. |
Make it UsefulAs with any subject, if we don't understand why its useful, we tend to not keep it in our minds for very long (the thought of learning for a test and forgetting). Spanish is something that can be useful TODAY! Look for ways to use it, whether with people you know (classmates, for example), or look up things online to read or listen to.

Grading PolicyHomework: Turn it it the day it is due so as to not get detention. It is graded on completion, though I do correct the homework before handing it back. You have till the end of the semester to complete it and turn it in.
Quizzes: You have one week from the time I hand it back to you to re-take a quiz and bring the grade up. Tests: There is not a set practice for tests, as I will decide depending on the student and the general test scores of the class. Reviews: I'm having reviews after school each day. Click the link below for information as to what the review will be this/next week. |
